On January 6, 2021, chaos erupted in Washington D.C. as supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the United States Capitol Building in an effort to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. President-elect Joe Biden won the election with 306 electoral college votes to President Trump’s 232. After the violence subsided, Congress reconvened and certified the electoral college results. President-elect Joe Biden was confirmed as the winner of the election, cementing his victory over President Trump.
